Utbah ibn Abi Lahab was one of the most prominent figures of the Quraysh tribe in Mecca during the pre-Islamic period. He was the son of Abu Lahab, who was one of the bitterest enemies of the Prophet Muhammad.
Utbah was known for his eloquence and was considered one of the most skilled orators in Mecca. He was also known for his physical strength and bravery.
Despite his father's enmity towards the Prophet Muhammad, Utbah had a favorable opinion of him and was one of the few Meccans who recognized the Prophet's integrity and sincerity. However, he never converted to Islam.
During the early days of Islam, Utbah was sent by the Meccans to negotiate with the Prophet Muhammad, but the negotiations were unsuccessful. Later, Utbah was present at the Battle of Badr, where he fought on the side of the Meccans. He was killed in the battle, and his death was considered a significant loss for the Meccans.
Utbah's sons, including Walid ibn Utbah, were also prominent figures in Mecca during the pre-Islamic period. However, they opposed the Prophet Muhammad and played a significant role in the persecution of the early Muslims.
